Basketball Recap: Josie Mayo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Watauga over West Ridge

The Watauga Pioneers came up short against the West Ridge Wolves on Friday and fell 61-48. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Watauga lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josie Mayo, who shot 4-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Mitchell, who posted nine points and five boards.

Watauga's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Ridge, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coincidentally, Watauga and West Ridge will both be playing Greeneville the next time they take the court. The Pioneers will head out to face the Greene Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wolves will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
