Football Recap: Ennis Comes Up Short at Home Against Waxahachie

Ennis unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Waxahachie Indians on Friday, falling 44-13. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Indians are ranked 26th).

CHRIS MARTINEZ threw for 76 yards on 14 of 25 attempts. ADRIAN SATTERWHITE was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards.

Waxahachie found their leader in sophomore Taylen Strange, who rushed for 114 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Jordan Thompson-Woods also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ennis will challenge Midlothian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waxahachie, they will square off against Coppell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 899 yards in their previous games.
