Football Recap: Benbrook Wins Going Away Against Godley

Benbrook won the last time they faced Godley and things went their way on Friday too. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 35-14 victory. The contest marked the Bobcats' most dominant win of the season.

Benbrook's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Barton, who threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 31 yards and one score. What's more, Barton racked up 119.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Waylin Barton was Brennan's top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and three TDs.

Benbrook didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Will Cook led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Despite the loss, Godley still got an impressive performance from Adam Pempsell, who rushed for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Benbrook now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Godley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Benbrook will welcome Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Godley, they will square off against Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Pempsell and Kamron Lloyd.
