Soccer Game Preview: James Madison vs. Oakton

The James Madison Warhawks will head out to square off against the Oakton Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. James Madison's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for James Madison's offense. They fell 2-0 to Chantilly on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that James Madison have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Oakton entered their tilt with South Lakes on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Seahawks get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Oakton's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 100th, while South Lakes are ranked 206th).

Oakton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matchups. As for James Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-2.
