Recap: Central Dragons vs. Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils

If the Central Dragons were riding high off their 59-23 takedown of the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Central took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellwood-Antis on Wednesday. Central has not had much luck with Bellwood-Antis recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Bellwood-Antis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lilly Gerwert led the charge by scoring nine points along with 13 rebounds and six blocks. Gerwert has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Quick, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.

Central now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Bellwood-Antis, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Greater Johnstown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Forest Hills is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
