Baseball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Find Success

It was close, but on Thursday the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs sidestepped the Killian Cougars for a 9-7 win.

AJ Wright looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Eddie Marshall was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cam Rizzi, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Cardinal Gibbons' record is now 8-11. As for Killian, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Gibbons will be playing in front of their home fans against Everglades at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Killian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Miami Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami Springs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Killian surely won't give up without a fight.
