Baseball Recap: Scotia-Glenville Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Scotia-Glenville waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tyler Gray made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Nicholas Pedone was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Scotia-Glenville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Steven Nicklas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Scotia-Glenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Scotia-Glenville pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Broadalbin-Perth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Scotia-Glenville beat the Patriots by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday.
