Basketball Recap: East Clinton Comes Up Short

East Clinton played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS 71-35. While losing is never fun, the Astros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 836th, while the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS are ranked 295th).

Madeira's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Beck, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Will Manning, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

East Clinton has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Madeira, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Clinton has already played their next game (against Williamsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Madeira has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Georgetown.
