Baseball Recap: Western Beats Frankfort for Their Fourth Straight Win

Western waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Frankfort Hot Dogs a 4-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Western got a great performance from Ashton Castillo as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Castillo a new career-high.

At the plate, Miles Rudy was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine games. Ryan Rodman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Western's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Frankfort, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5.

Coincidentally, Western and Frankfort will both be playing Peru the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Hot Dogs will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
