Softball Recap: Gunderson Find Success

While Gunderson's victory against San Jose wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 15-14 on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Grizzlies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gunderson got a massive performance out of Talia Abuhamid, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Abuhamid a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Vejar, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gunderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.

Gunderson's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for San Jose, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Coming up, Gunderson will face off against Independence at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The 76ers will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Jose, they will venture away from home to square off against Overfelt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
