Basketball Recap: Mountain Empire Redhawks vs. Coastal Academy Stingrays
Mountain Empire lost against Coastal Academy back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Redhawks and the Stingrays didn't end well, with the Redhawks falling 30-13.

Despite the loss, Mountain Empire still got an impressive performance from Aimee Acevedo, who posted five points. Acevedo continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Idania Juarez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Coastal Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lorelai Smith led the charge by putting up five points and four steals. Jacq Fugate was another key player, scoring four points in addition to ten boards and three steals.
Mountain Empire's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Coastal Academy, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire will challenge West Shores at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
