Football Game Preview: Mason Comets vs. Sycamore Aviators

The Mason Comets will take on the Sycamore Aviators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sycamore took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mason, who comes in off a win.

Mason will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Colerain on Friday. The Comets took down the Cardinals 38-21. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Comets this season.

Meanwhile, Sycamore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 38-0 loss at the hands of Lakota East. While losing is never fun, the Aviators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Thunderhawks are ranked 85th).

Sycamore's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Mason, they moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Everything went Mason's way against Sycamore when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Mason made off with a 29-7 win. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Aviators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
