Football Game Preview: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Ponte Vedra Sharks + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in Sebastian Johnson and Cole Rosendahl are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mainland Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mainland sitting on five straight wins and Ponte Vedra on eight.

Mainland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 36-31 W over Mosley.

Mainland found their leader in sophomore Johnson, who threw for 212 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one TD on the ground. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 53 yards.

Mainland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Mainland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Marcus Day, Theo Bryant, Jhavin Westbrook, and Dennis King 3Rd picked up one apiece. King 3Rd is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least eight every time he's taken the field this season. Bryant got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Ponte Vedra against Beachside on Friday as the squad secured a 38-3 victory. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Ponte Vedra had a senior duo take command as Davitt Doherty picked up 60 receiving yards and a pair of scores and Jack Berquist picked up 84 receiving yards and one TD.

Mainland's record is now 9-2. As for Ponte Vedra, their record now sits at 10-2.
