Flag Football Recap: El Capitan Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Golden Valley on Tuesday, El Capitan came back down to earth. The Gauchos were just a hair shy of victory on Thursday and fell 14-13 to the Atwater Falcons. The Gauchos have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Gauchos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaliyah Simonian, who threw for 271 yards and two TDs. 145 of those passing yards were hauled in by Madysen Dietz, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Atwater, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

El Capitan will be playing in front of their home fans against Buhach Colony at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder's defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Gauchos' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Atwater, they are taking a road trip to square off against Merced at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Falcons 11.4, the Bears 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
