Monterey Trail picks up 12th straight win at home

Recap: Monterey Trail Mustangs vs. Christian Brothers Falcons

The Monterey Trail Mustangs put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Christian Brothers with a sharp 93-67 win. Monterey Trail's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Monterey Trail's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Gibson Jr, who almost dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. The match was Gibson Jr's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Mcalister, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Christian Brothers lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Stephan Hewitt, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hewitt scored 15 or more points. Exander Irving-Romero was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Monterey Trail's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.08 points. As for Christian Brothers, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Monterey Trail will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Granite Bay at 3:50 p.m. on December 27th. Christian Brothers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Ponderosa at 8:30 p.m. on December 14th. Ponderosa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
