Baseball Game Preview: Ursuline Fighting Irish vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons

The Ursuline Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Austintown-Fitch Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Austintown-Fitch took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ursuline, who comes in off a win.

Ursuline came out on top against Canfield on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Fighting Irish skirted past the Cardinals 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Luke Stroney and Luke Kollar did most of the damage at the plate: Stroney went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Kollar went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was CJ Snyder, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Austintown-Fitch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Alliance. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since March 25, 2024.

Ursuline's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 5.8 runs. As for Austintown-Fitch, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
