Basketball Game Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. Marlboro County Bulldogs

The Chesterfield Golden Rams will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Marlboro County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Chesterfield's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Marlboro County has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Chesterfield didn't have quite enough to beat Anson and fell 51-49.

Despite the defeat, Chesterfield had strong showings from Reagan Rivers, who posted 20 points and six rebounds, and Terrahjah Robinson, who had 15 points along with six boards and four steals. Rivers' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Turnage, who put up four points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Marlboro County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 51-45 to Hartsville.

Marlboro County's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Chesterfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Chesterfield came up short against Marlboro County in their previous matchup on Wednesday, falling 47-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Marlboro County's Serenity Bethea, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Now that Chesterfield knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
