1A Region 7 recap September 24, 2013
Valley Head added to the longest winning streak in 1A Region 7 this week by beating Gaylesville, 33-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Spring Garden was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. The Panthers defeated Coosa Christian 34-7 earlier in the week.
Gaylesville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole Murphy has thrown for 123 yards this season, while Gable Lawson has 4 catches for 61 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Donoho takes on Collinsville. The Falcons are currently in third, while the Panthers are in second.
Valley Head scaled the state rankings by moving to 223 from 256 this week, the biggest jump in 1A Region 7. The Tigers were able to move up by beating the Trojans 33-7.
