Softball Recap: Sunset Park Takes a Loss

If Sunset Park was feeling good fresh off their 22-3 takedown of Brooklyn Studio last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sunset Park fell just short of the McKee Vo-Tech Seagulls by a score of 19-18 on Thursday. The HEAT have struggled against the Seagulls recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Ransely Rodriguez led a balanced group of hitters, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 5-for-5. Melanea Francisco was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing nine bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Sunset Park's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. McKee Vo-Tech has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Sunset Park is taking a road trip to face off against Lafayette at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McKee Vo-Tech, they will take on Grady at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
