Softball Game Preview: Sault Area Blue Devils vs. Petoskey Northmen

Sault Area is 0-5 against Petoskey since June of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will face off against the Northmen at 4:00 p.m.

Sault Area can't be too happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They lost 11-4 to Traverse City Central.

Meanwhile, Petoskey sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Kingsley last Friday.

Bre VerCautren spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Leist, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addisynn Segraves, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sault Area suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Petoskey in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
