Seymour hadn't beaten Woodland Regional on the road since May 13, 2024 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Hawks. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-2 victory two weeks ago.

Cassidy Marcinczyk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seymour let Rachael DeAngelis and Alexa Klisus run wild. DeAngelis got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Klisus went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Seymour and bumps their season record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Woodland Regional, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.

Seymour does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Woodland Regional, they will welcome Mercy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 2.4, the Tigers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
