Recap: The First Academy Royals vs. Clay Blue Devils
The First Academy Royals kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of Clay by a score of 40-37.
The First Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo De jesus, who scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals.
The First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Clay, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The First Academy will face off against Fleming Island at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fleming Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday. As for Clay, they will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ridgeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
