Preview: Wolfe County Wolves vs. Holy Cross Indians
The Wolfe County Wolves and the Holy Cross Indians will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Powell County scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, Wolfe County still came out on top. Wolfe County walked away with a 77-69 win over Powell County.
Wolfe County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Corey Flinchum led the charge by scoring 25 points along with seven assists and three steals. The contest was Flinchum's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Brown, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Holy Cross scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Bracken County at home to the tune of 83-40. Given Holy Cross' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Bracken County is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wolfe County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Holy Cross, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
