Recap: Acalanes Dons vs. San Juan Hills Stallions
The Acalanes Dons struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the San Juan Hills Stallions had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Acalanes took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Juan Hills. While losing is never fun, Acalanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while San Juan Hills is ranked 119th).
Acalanes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maddox Malm, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Malm scored 15 or more points. Liam Krackeler was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
San Juan Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Hodges, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hodges' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jack Tetley, who scored 16 points.
Acalanes' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for San Juan Hills, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Acalanes will take on Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Serra's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. San Juan Hills and Bishop Diego will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Diego is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
