Baseball Recap: Franklin-Simpson Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Franklin-Simpson won against Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Wildcats beat the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 12-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Boy Blanckenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Brady Delk was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Gass, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Franklin-Simpson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-25.
