Basketball Recap: Wapakoneta Skates Past Greenville with Ease

Wapakoneta won against Kenton on Friday with 64 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Wapakoneta Redskins claimed a resounding 64-30 victory over the Greenville Green Wave. Given the Redskins' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Green Wave are ranked 772nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layne Hocker, who posted six points and three steals. Drew Hamilton was another key player, putting up six points.

Wapakoneta is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Greenville, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Wapakoneta will square off against Elida at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wapakoneta will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Greenville, they will challenge Piqua at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
