Football Game Preview: Avonworth Antelopes vs. McGuffey Highlanders + How To Watch

The Avonworth Antelopes will venture away from home to challenge the McGuffey Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avonworth will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Avonworth made easy work of Quaker Valley and carried off a 40-19 win. The result was nothing new for the Antelopes, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Avonworth can attribute much of their success to Logan Krul, who rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and Carson Bellinger, who threw for 168 yards and four TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Bellinger has posted since back in October of 2024. Luca Neal was in the mix too, providing Avonworth with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Avonworth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, McGuffey fell victim to Hopewell and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Vikings and fell 63-0. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Vikings are ranked 120th).

Avonworth's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for McGuffey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Avonworth against McGuffey in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-13 win. In that matchup, the Antelopes amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
