Baseball Game Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Aptos Mariners will head out on the road to take on the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Aptos is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Harbor on Wednesday. They lost 9-1 to the Pirates.

Aptos saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Work, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-1 win. The match marked the Cardinals' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Santa Cruz pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Aptos, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
