Soccer Game Preview: Masconomet Regional vs. Newburyport

The Masconomet Regional Chieftains will head out on the road to take on the Newburyport Clippers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Masconomet Regional sitting on nine straight wins and Newburyport on five.

Masconomet Regional's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. They blew past Danvers 4-0. Masconomet Regional might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newburyport was able to grind out a solid victory over Amesbury on Thursday, taking the game 3-1. That's two games straight that Newburyport have won by exactly two goals.

Masconomet Regional's record now sits at 13-2. As for Newburyport, their record is now 9-4-1.

Masconomet Regional beat Newburyport by a goal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
