Baseball Recap: Garner Victorious

Garner lost to Cleveland on Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Trojans skirted past the Rams 8-7. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Tanner Pope, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camden Walton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Garner has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Cleveland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Garner will challenge South Garner at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.57 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cleveland, they will square off against Southeast Raleigh at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.38 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
