Football Recap: Oxnard Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Oxnard extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-10. They had to suffer through a 56-7 loss at the hands of the Ventura Cougars. The Yellowjackets lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 19-9 score last time.

Gavin Liston threw for 84 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Jayven Aranda was his top target, picking up 72 receiving yards.

As for Ventura, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Considering they have won six games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ventura had a senior duo take command as Jack Cunningham picked up 260 receiving yards and five touchdowns and Derek Garcia threw for 260 yards and five TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes. Cunningham's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Gavin Scarlett was another key player, throwing for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.

As of now, neither Oxnard nor Ventura have any future games scheduled.
