Football Game Preview: Decatur Seahawks vs. Kent Island Buccaneers + How To Watch

Decatur is 2-7 against Kent Island since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Seahawks will host the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Decatur sitting on five straight victories and Kent Island on four.

While Decatur's win against Easton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Seahawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warriors 28-25.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Kyle Mumford and Jamier Copper. Mumford had a great game on Friday and gained 145 total yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Copper was balling out in the loss, rushing for 247 yards and a pair of TDs.

One reason for the win was Decatur's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Seamus Orth with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.

Meanwhile, Kent Island won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Wicomico 24-23.

Decatur better keep an eye on Jaxson Hess. He was instrumental in Kent Island's win, rushing for 166 yards and one score, while also picking up 68 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Hess has posted since back in October of 2024.

Kent Island's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Decatur, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Decatur against Kent Island when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-0 win. Will the Seahawks repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
