Recap: Grenada Chargers vs. Lake Cormorant

After a string of three wins, the Grenada Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 65-54 loss to Lake Cormorant. Grenada was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Cormorant apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

Grenada lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jarques Perry, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Perry's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelton Jones, who scored 16 points.

Grenada bumped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lake Cormorant, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Grenada is on the road again on Saturday and play against Southaven at 10:00 a.m. on January 6th. Southaven presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Grenada in Mississippi (Southaven is ranked 34th, while Grenada is ranked 140th). As for Lake Cormorant, they will be playing at home against Byers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
