Basketball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

If Austin was feeling good fresh off their 71-40 takedown of Dripping Springs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Austin Maroons were dealt a 59-28 defeat at the hands of the Westlake Chaparrals on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Maroons have suffered since December 20, 2023.

Austin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jillian Shirk, who posted 11 points, and Cecilia Offor, who earned seven points.

Austin's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-8. As for Westlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Austin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 73-29 win against McNeil on the 27th. Westlake has also already played their next game, a 62-54 victory against Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries on the 26th.
