Softball Recap: Mount View Takes a Loss

Mount View dropped to 12-5 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Man Hillbillies, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Golden Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Man, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Man's part, Mount View's batters probably weren't too happy with Mia Johnson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Johnson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erika Mullins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Carly Caserta was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Mount View will challenge Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Man, they will take on Westside at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
