Baseball Recap: Chaparral Wins Going Away Against Cobre

Chaparral lost to Cobre back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Everything went the Chaparral Lobos' way against the Cobre Indians as the Chaparral Lobos made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Lobos have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Molina made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Ramirez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Aiden Munoz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. Cobre's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will host Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cobre, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tohatchi at 6:30 p.m. on March 13th.
