Omaha Westside had won eight straight games and Emre Gedik did his part to make it nine on Tuesday. The Omaha Westside Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 victory over the Creighton Prep Junior Jays thanks in part to Gedik, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.
Several Junior Jays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinell Parker, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Jungers, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.
Omaha Westside's record now sits at 9-0. As for Creighton Prep, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.
Omaha Westside will square off against Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Papillion-LaVista South likes a good challenge. As for Creighton Prep, they will challenge Lincoln Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
