Football Game Preview: Legacy Christian Academy Lions vs. Laton Mustangs

For the first time this season, Legacy Christian Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Laton Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Legacy Christian Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Legacy Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Tehillah Christian Academy 50-6 on Thursday. With the Lions ahead 40-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Laton faced Alpaugh in a battle between two of the state's top teams two weeks ago. The Mustangs enjoyed a cozy 30-12 victory over the Buffalos. The win was just business as usual for the Mustangs, who after six games remain undefeated this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Andre Zapien and Joshua Banuelos. Zapien had a great game and rushed for 148 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Banuelos was balling out in the loss, rushing for 95 yards and one TD on only ten carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards.

Laton's defense made their presence known, laying out Uriel Perez three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zapien, Donavin Mobley, and Omar Hernandez, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Legacy Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Laton, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
