Basketball Recap: Clearwater Takes a Loss

Clearwater suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They came up short against the Boca Ciega Pirates, falling 65-43. The Tornadoes' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Clearwater still got an impressive performance from Keshawn Andrews, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points and six blocks. That's the most blocks Andrews has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tavaris Gant, who posted seven points in addition to eight boards and four blocks.

Boca Ciega found their leader in sophomore Anthony Brown, who made all 10 shots he took to post 23 points. With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Jelani Nix Jr was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 16 points.

Clearwater's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Boca Ciega, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Clearwater will head out to challenge Booneville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Boca Ciega, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-39 win against Pinellas Park on the 22nd.
