Football Recap: Bishop Ireton Takes a Loss

Bishop Ireton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 42-17 to the Paul VI Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Panthers are ranked 61st).

Bishop Ireton's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Paul VI, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Ireton will take on Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Paul VI, they will face off against Bishop O'Connell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
