Basketball Recap: Gracie Calkins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mitchell

There's no place like home for Chadron, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They strolled past the Mitchell Tigers with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 41-26. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chadron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gracie Calkins led the charge by putting up ten points and six rebounds. Reese Ritterbush was another key player, posting ten points and five boards.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaitlyn Keener, who posted seven points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Keener a new career-high.

Chadron now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mitchell, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Chadron wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-29 win against Hemingford on the 14th. As for Mitchell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-37 victory against Crawford on the 14th.
