Basketball Game Preview: Concord Yellowjackets vs. Bronson Vikings

Concord is 2-8 against Bronson since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Concord comes in on three and Bronson on four.

Last Friday, Concord was able to grind out a solid victory over Quincy, taking the game 40-30. The 40-point effort marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Concord's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cieara Barrett led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to nine steals and five boards. Barrett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bradie Lehman, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Concord smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Bronson has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.75 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit last Friday. They secured a 64-60 W over Reading. The Vikings' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Bronson's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Concord, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Concord was able to grind out a solid win over Bronson when the teams last played back in February, winning 53-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bronson's Aubree Calloway, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Concord still be able to contain Calloway? There's only one way to find out.
