Basketball Recap: Tri County Trojans vs. Pawnee City Indians
The Tri County Trojans entered their tilt with the Pawnee City Indians with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Tri County came out on top against the Indians by a score of 48-35 on Thursday. Given Tri County's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Indians are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden Bales led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Bales is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Drew Siems was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Pawnee City's loss came despite strong showings from Jett Farwell and Anthony Kling. Farwell scored 15 points along with four steals, while Kling scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That was a full 34.3% of Pawnee City's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pawnee City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tri County's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Pawnee City, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Tri County will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Johnson-Brock is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Pawnee City, they will square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Exeter-Milligan/Friend's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
