Baseball Recap: South Harrison Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against The Linsly School, South Harrison was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Calhoun Red Devils a 12-0 shutout. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brogan Medina made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Belcastro, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jaycen Beachler was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

South Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Harrison's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Calhoun, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Looking ahead, South Harrison will head out on the road to square off against Philip Barbour at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhoun, they will face off against Gilmer County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
