Recap: Hagerty Huskies vs. Liberty Chargers
The Hagerty Huskies stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 87-50 win over Liberty. Given Hagerty's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Liberty is ranked 552nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hagerty got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Douglass out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Douglass has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Dipaolo, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Liberty lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camryn Irvin, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Genola Thermozier was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hagerty only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Hagerty is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Hagerty will be playing in front of their home fans against Atlantic at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three matchups. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to challenge Poinciana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
