Recap: Yuma Catholic Shamrocks vs. Parker Broncs

If the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks were riding high off their 39-7 takedown of the Odyssey Institute Minotaur on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yuma Catholic received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 55-40 to Parker. Yuma Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Parker apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Wiley's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Coleman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Yuma Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Yuma Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-6. As for Parker, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Yuma Catholic will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Gilbert Christian at 11:00 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Gilbert Christian is ranked 102nd, while Yuma Catholic is ranked 119th). As for Parker, they will head out on the road to face off against River Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. River Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
