Baseball Recap: Lutheran North's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lutheran North had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Principia Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

OSAR Tate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Tate was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Lutheran North: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Burkett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kyler Reno was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Lutheran North's victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran North will welcome Metro-East Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Principia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gateway Science Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
