Football Recap: Mountain Grove Falls to Fair Grove in First Game of Season

Mountain Grove had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 29-28 to the Fair Grove Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 41-20 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Grove lost, don't look at Braydon Curtiss. Despite the final result, he rushed for 200 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Estep, who rushed for 81 yards and one score.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Grove will challenge St. Michael the Archangel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fair Grove, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Tipton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
