Basketball Recap: Phoenix Academy Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Phoenix Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Chatham Charter Knights with a sharp 55-32 win.

Destiny Kinsey went supernova, putting up 21 points and six steals. The contest was her ninth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Aleena Qureshi, who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Phoenix Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chatham Charter only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Chatham Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peyton York went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points. York is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Chatham Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Chatham Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-22 defeat against NCSSM: Durham on the 7th. Hopefully Phoenix Academy paid attention to the Knights' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
