Football Game Preview: Booker T. Washington-Shreveport Lions vs. Istrouma Indians

The Booker T. Washington-Shreveport Lions will face off against the Istrouma Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Booker T. Washington-Shreveport will be strutting in after a win while Istrouma will be coming in after a loss.

Istrouma better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Booker T. Washington-Shreveport's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Booker T. Washington-Shreveport really gets things going. The Lions put the hurt on Woodlawn-Shreveport with a sharp 40-14 victory. Considering the Lions have won three games by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Booker T. Washington-Shreveport's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devion Stewart led the charge by throwing for 276 yards and four TDs on only 16 passes, while also punching in one score on the ground. What's more, Stewart racked up nine rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Booker T. Washington-Shreveport's leading receiver Dk Mitchell was Stewart's top target yet again, picking up 137 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Istrouma's offense. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brusly on Friday. The Indians have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Even if they lost, Istrouma's defense still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Sam Polk was especially locked on to Brusly's QB and sacked him twice.

The win made it two in a row for Booker T. Washington-Shreveport and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games. As for Istrouma, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
